In this tutorial you will learn how to create a template for photos from a photo booth in Photoshop. The same method can be used to create a collage of photos.

Note: The author used paid materials. In the archive you will find an alternative version of the images to perform the lesson.
You can use the suggested above sources or replace them with others.
1. Creating a template for a photo
STEP 1.
Begin by creating a new document. Go to File - New.
For the tutorial, we will create a document that is 11" x 8.5" and has a Resolution of 300 DPI. This size is great for printing.
However, you can work with any size. For example, if you want to publish your work on Instagram, you don't have to use a high resolution - 72 DPI is enough. And in that case, use a document size of 1080 x 1080 pixels.
Decide on the size and resolution, then click on Create.
STEP 2
Work on the background and add some texture to it so that you can see the result better. This is an optional step, but it's best not to skip it.
I will use a tree texture from the Envato Elements website. Open the image in Photoshop and transfer it to a working document.
Tip: if you want to decrease the brightness of the texture, you can reduce its opacity, for example, to 70%.
STEP 3
Next, take the Rectangle Tool (U). It's on the toolbar to the left. If you don't find it, it's probably nested in a button with other tools. In the screenshot below, the Rectangle Tool (U) is marked. To expand such a group, right-click on it.
STEP 4.
With the tool selected, make sure that the top panel has the fill set to white and the stroke turned off. These options will appear only after you activate the desired tool.
