In the first part we'll draw a sketch (lin) and work on the basic fill. The author of the lesson will show in detail how to draw a reference scheme and a rough sketch. These auxiliary tools will help you correctly mark the parts of the character's face and their proportions, and will be a good reference point for you when drawing.
After creating the final sketch,, you'll see how to draw basic color spots before further detailing the entire drawing.
Lesson Highlights:
Parsing the type on the reference;
Reference diagram in a half-turn perspective;
Drawing step by step a detailed sketch of the character;
Outlining the areas of light and shadows;
Fill in the outline with basic color spots.
In the second part we will draw in detail all parts of Gandalf's face, his features, delving into the correct placement of color, shadows and light. We will pay attention to clothing, draw a hat and outline color reflections.
Important Lesson Points:
How to draw basic shadows;
How to draw a beard and mustache step by step - from the base to the details;
Drawing eyes, nose, lips;
Why texture brushes are better for drawing;
How to draw hair.
In part three, we will complete the drawing with a background and foreground. You will learn how to make a focus in a drawing to draw the viewer's eye exactly to the character. How to apply brush strokes and make color transitions in a harmonious way.
We'll draw flames in the background, general reflexes from fire, and we'll draw fire reflexes on Gandalf himself: on his hat, hair, face, and clothes. Gandalf will have a staff in his hand and we will also draw it with reflexes, but with less emphasis. At the end we will add sparks from the fire, which will add depth and make a general correction of the portrait.
